Meet The Trainers Meet Mary
MARY

HI Everyone, my name is Mary...

Hi Everyone, my name is Mary and I am a trainer at Compound Crossfit. For the past 4 years I have worked at NSA Northwest Annex training military personnel as well as instructing group exercise classes which led me to be selected as the Fitness Program Director for PATFORSWA, a CG unit that sent me to get my Level 1 Crossfit Certification. I, like other fitness guru’s, thought I was in shape until Ryan introduced me to Fight Gone Bad 3 years ago.  I despised the workout (and Ryan but who doesn’t) for taking me out of my comfort zone and remember thinking what have I gotten myself into… I haven’t looked back since.

I was an Army brat and the constant relocations caused me to turn to food for comfort and as a result I ballooned to 52% body fat. So, at the age of 14, I began a fitness regimen in order to lose weight. I reached my goal over the course of a year only to backslide and hop on that rollercoaster of gaining and losing weight. This cycle continued for years. I was only concerned with staying “thin” like most of us women who have been brainwashed into thinking that skinny equals beautiful. When I started Crossfit my outlook on fitness completely changed. It was no longer about waist size but becoming empowered by the workouts. I stopped focusing on my appearance and set my sights on feeling strong. It separated me from an obsessive compulsive world and brought me back to a healthy place. Crossfit changed my life way beyond fitness.

Crossfit is for everyone because anything you do in a workout can be carried outside of the gym walls into everyday life.  You don’t have to be in shape to be a member here, but rest assured you will become fit all-around when you join. I have trained numerous clients and there is nothing more rewarding than watching someone experience that feeling of accomplishment after doing something they never imagined they could. Some people would say these workouts are considered dangerous or even castigated, but only because they are scared, not of what they can’t do, but of what they can.  So step outside your comfort zone, FACE the WOD that you are running away from, learn something about yourself and find out what you are truly capable of when you think you have nothing left to give.

I am excited to work with you at The Compound and help you achieve all your fitness goals. The environment is positive, inspiring and fun!!
